Staff Psychologist - Relocation/Recruitment Incentive and EDRP Approved

Summary This position is with the Fort Worth Outpatient Clinic. The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a staff psychologist on an interdisciplinary outpatient mental health team (Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Team – BHIP) where the employee conducts a variety of outpatient services, including evidence‑based psychotherapy and completion of psychological screenings and evaluations aimed at serving the needs of Veterans. Qualifications Citizenship – Must be a citizen of the United States. Non‑citizens may be appointed only when no qualified citizens are available, in accordance with applicable regulations. Education – Must hold a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA approved program (or equivalent Canadian or PCSAS accredited program). The specialty area of the degree must align with the assignment. Alternatively, a doctoral degree with a recognized re‑specialization program (APA or CPA accredited) that places the candidate in the assignment specialty, or a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally accredited institution with a dissertation primarily in psychology. Internship – Successful completion of a professional psychology internship accredited by APA or CPA and consistent with the assignment, or an equivalent experience under VHA sanctioning. Certain historical internship programs are also acceptable. Licensure – Hold a full, current, unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state, territory, or Commonwealth. Non‑licensed applicants may receive a temporary graduate psychologist appointment under supervision for up to two years; failure to obtain licensure results in termination. Board Certification – Applicants whose internship was not accredited must hold a current board certification from the American Board of Professional Psychology in a specialty consistent with the assignment, and maintain continuing‑education requirements. Language – Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Duties The incumbent is a direct patient‑care staff psychologist who provides a full range of therapeutic interventions for an MH outpatient team. Conduct evidence‑based individual, couples/family, group, and psychoeducational therapy. Administer and interpret a wide variety of psychological assessments, including clinical interviews, testing, and measurement‑based care. Diagnose mental disorders, assess suicide risk, and develop safety plans as needed; provide triage services for patients at elevated risk. Offer crisis management and adjunctive interventions for co‑morbid medical or psychiatric conditions. Participate in performance‑improvement projects, team meetings, and peer‑review procedures. Supervise and mentor unlicensed psychologists, practicum students, interns, and postdoctoral fellows, and may conduct education seminars and applicant interviews. Report regularly to supervisors, including through record audit and peer review. Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Benefits Competitive salary with regular increases.
