Position Summary Looking for Software Development Engineer who is passionate about building backend services and API integrations that power scalable, reliable experiences for our partners and internal platforms. This role covers design and development of REST/GraphQL APIs, integrate with internal/external systems, and help create developer-friendly SDKs (Ni language Bar) that accelerate adoption and improve developer experience. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain backend services and API integrations using Java (Spring Boot) and/or Node.js (TypeScript). Design, implement, and document RESTful APIs (and GraphQL where applicable), ensuring clean contracts, backward compatibility, and strong usability for consumers. Develop and maintain SDKs and supporting assets to enable “plug‑n‑play” consumption by clients/partners and internal teams. Write high-quality code with unit tests, participate in code reviews, and follow the team’s SDLC and branching practices. Troubleshoot issues using logging, debugging, and basic observability signals; contribute to operational readiness with runbooks and clear documentation. Collaborate with product, architecture, and peer engineering teams to refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver iteratively in an Agile environment. Apply secure coding practices and align solutions to common security standards. (Optional / Preferred scope) Contribute to AI-enabled capabilities such as integrating LLM-based services, building lightweight internal assistants/agents, or using AI tools to improve test automation and developer workflow. Required Qualifications (408-aligned) Hands-on experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including the necessity of code reviews. Practical software development experience building applications/services in at least one primary language, such as Java or JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js). Familiarity with consuming web services (REST/SOAP/GraphQL) and integrating across systems Familiarity with process debugging and logging and basic troubleshooting in lower environments. Experience level expectation for Associate/Bachelor’s with ~2 years relevant experience or ~8 years relevant experience in lieu of degree Preferred Qualifications Experience building API-first backend systems (Spring Boot microservices, Node.js services) and publishing APIs with strong documentation and versioning discipline. Exposure to GraphQL schemas/queries/mutations and/or API gateway patterns (BFF, orchestration, capability APIs). Experience creating or maintaining SDKs (package publishing, semantic versioning, examples, CI automation). Familiarity with cloud-native development concepts (containers, CI/CD pipelines, observability basics). Familiarity with messaging/event streaming (e.g., Kafka) and scalable integration patterns. Interest/experience using AI tools to improve developer productivity, test generation, or building small AI-enabled workflow automations. Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience (see experience expectations above). Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 Time Type Full time Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $79,310.00 - $158,620.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. Our people fuel our future.
