Description:

The Medical Care Unit is designed for patients who are less acute and may be awaiting placement to a long-term care facility. The patients may have a variety of medical diagnoses. Nurses may be required to float between the Medical Care Unit and Inpatient Rehabilitation. Inpatient Rehabilitation is a designated unit for intense rehabilitation services. The nurse will deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation in coordination with other health team members. Effective interaction with patients, significant others, and health team members is expected while maintaining high standards of professional nursing. The nurse provides high quality care to the following patient populations: Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, Telemetry, and Psychiatric Issues. While the traveler will not be assigned to a regular call rotation, they may occasionally be placed on call during periods of low census. If called in, the traveler is expected to respond and arrive on-site within one hour. Floating is required, and there is a weekend rotation requirement. Estimated hours per week are 36.
