Job Posting Title: X-Ray Technologist (PRN) ---- Hiring Department: Dell Medical School ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 8 ---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA ---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue ---- Location: AUSTIN, TX ---- Job Details: PURPOSE The X-Ray Technologist performs imaging exams to assist in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This role involves positioning patients, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of images. The X-Ray Technologist typically reports to the Director of Radiology and works closely with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Preparation and Positioning * Explain imaging procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation. * Position radiographic equipment at the correct angle and height over the appropriate area of the patient's body. * Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures. Imaging Procedures * Operate radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. * Follow physicians' orders precisely and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation. * Administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice. Image Evaluation and Quality Control * Review and evaluate developed X-rays or computer-generated images to determine if they are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes. * Perform quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure it is safe and in working order. * Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Patient Care and Support * Monitor patients' conditions and reactions during and after imaging procedures. * Address any patient concerns or adverse reactions promptly. * Provide post-procedure instructions and support to patients. Administrative Duties * Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs, and placing orders. * Ensure a clean and organized working environment in the imaging suite. * Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field At least 2 year(s) of experience in relevant experience in radiology or medical imaging Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Texas Medical Board (TMB) licensure Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field At least 3 year(s) of experience in Radiology Tech or in a similar role. Certification in MRI or CT imaging SALARY RANGE OPEN WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT * Standard office equipment * Repetitive use of a keyboard * May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients, or others.
