Job Summary The City Government of Austin, TX, is seeking motivated and dedicated Water Utility Technicians to join our team. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of water utility systems, including pipelines, pumps, valves, and meters. Respond promptly to water‑related service calls and emergencies to ensure minimal disruption to the community. Monitor and operate equipment used for water distribution, treatment, and storage. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing water utilities. Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections completed, and materials used. Collaborate with team members and other departments to execute projects efficiently. Participate in safety training and adhere to safety protocols. Required Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in water utility management or a related field is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of water utility systems. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and computer systems for record‑keeping. Valid Texas drivers license with a clean driving record. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with team members and the public. Familiarity with safety practices and protocols in utility operations. Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience in water utility operations, maintenance, or related fields. Experience working with municipal or governmental water systems is a plus. Working Hours Full‑time position: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. May include occasional evenings, weekends, and on‑call shifts for emergencies. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of water distribution and treatment processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical manuals. Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
