Diesel Mechanic

A well-established fleet operation is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join its team near New London, CT. The position is primarily shop-based with occasional field service at other Connecticut facilities.If you enjoy major engine repairs, diagnostics, and working with a supportive team that invests in its technicians, this is a career opportunity worth exploring.What You'll DoDiagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of heavy-duty trucks and off-road equipment.Perform major engine repairs, in-frame overhauls, and component rebuilds.Complete preventative maintenance services and Federal Annual (DOT) inspections.Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, drivetrain, and aftertreatment systems.Utilize OEM diagnostic software to accurately identify and resolve faults.Perform occasional field service repairs at other company facilities throughout Connecticut.Maintain accurate service documentation while adhering to all company safety standards.QualificationsPrevious experience as a Diesel Mechanic working on heavy-duty trucks and diesel-powered equipment.Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.Experience performing major engine repairs and in-frame overhauls.Proficiency with Cummins INSITE, Davie, Allison DOC, Roadranger, or similar OEM diagnostic software.Experience diagnosing and repairing Cummins and PACCAR MX-13 engines.Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and Federal Annual (DOT) inspections.Comfortable using computers and electronic diagnostic systems.Valid medical card.CDL (Class B or higher) is preferred, or willingness to obtain one through the company's paid CDL training program.Must successfully complete a background check and drug screening.Compensation$32.00$42.00 per hour, based on experience and technical ability.Overtime paid at 1.5x after 40 hours per week.Annual profit sharing ranging from 7.5%17.75% of annual earnings (historically averaging approximately 15%).Discretionary year-end bonus typically ranging from $2,000 to $10,000+, based on company and individual performance.BenefitsBenefits begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment and include:Medical, dental, and vision insuranceCompany-paid life insuranceCompany-paid long-term disability insurance401(k) with company profit-sharing contributionsEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Education Assistance ProgramLegal services planCompany-provided uniformsAnnual boot allowance$250 annual tool allowancePaid CDL training (if required)Paid Time Off6 vacation days after 6 months17 vacation days after 1 year22 vacation days after 10 years27 vacation days after 18 yearsScheduleMondayFridayFlexible daytime schedule:7:00 AM4:00 PM or8:00 AM5:00 PMAverage of 57 hours of overtime per weekOccasional Saturday on-call rotationWork EnvironmentApproximately 6070% shop work and 3040% field serviceModern, heated 4-bay shop equipped with vehicle lifts, welding area, and advanced diagnostic equipment.Company service truck provided for field work, with the possibility of take-home privileges depending on where the successful candidate resides.If you're an experienced Diesel Mechanic looking for long-term stability, excellent earning potential, and the opportunity to work in a professional, well-equipped environment, we'd like to hear from you.#MHM #J-18808-Ljbffr Mechanics Hub
