Position Summary - The Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe, respectful, and accountable campus environment by administering the University's student conduct process and championing the institution's community standards. As the lead conduct officer, the Director adjudicates cases involving moderate to serious violations of the Student Code of Conduct—including those related to sexual misconduct and Title IX—ensuring all processes are guided by fairness, equity, and a commitment to upholding shared values. In support of a community-centered approach, the Director provides ongoing training for student conduct officers as well as professional and paraprofessional staff within Residence Life and Student Affairs. These training efforts emphasize the importance of integrity, mutual respect, and responsibility in maintaining strong community standards across campus. The Director also facilitates alternative forms of dispute resolution when appropriate, helping students engage constructively with conflict in ways that reinforce learning and community restoration. The role includes regular communication with the broader campus community to ensure transparency and understanding around compliance, policy updates, and best practices related to student conduct in higher education. As an active member of the University's Sexual Misconduct and Interpersonal Violence Response Team, the Director helps coordinate the institutional response to allegations of student-to-student sexual misconduct, interpersonal violence, sexual exploitation, or stalking—ensuring these matters are handled with care, consistency, and in alignment with community expectations and legal requirements. Additionally, the Director oversees educational, engagement, and support initiatives within the Division of Student Development and Campus Life for off-campus and commuter students, promoting their connection to the University community and reinforcing community standards beyond the physical campus.
Essential Duties - Code of Conduct Ensures effective administration of the University's student conduct code and student conduct process by serving as the lead conduct officer for nonacademic student misconduct and training both professional and paraprofessional staff in all aspects of the University's student conduct process. Promotes the Student Code of Conduct and university expectations to all students at major touchpoints during orientation and first-year student programming, and through collaborative programming and outreach year-round. Adjudicates individual student cases via formal conduct hearings and/or refers cases to the informal hearing process or other conflict resolution processes as appropriate. Coordinates and chairs all Formal Hearings related to violations of the Student Code of Conduct, Anti-Harassment Non-Discrimination policy, Sexual Misconduct & Interpersonal Violence policy, and the Title IX policy. Oversees operation of the University Student Conduct System. Maintains current knowledge of Student Conduct trends by researching best practices, and benchmarking at peer institutions. Sexual Misconduct & Interpersonal Violence and Title IX Serves as a member of the University's Sexual Misconduct Advocacy & Response Team. Works in collaboration with the Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, the Assistant Director of Public Safety for Investigations and Compliance, Sexual Misconduct/Educator/Advocate and Respondent Advocate regarding all components of violations involving sexual misconduct, harassment and/or discrimination, including campus training, data management, and on-going professional development. Collaborates with campus partners in responding to Sexual Misconduct & Interpersonal Violence and Title IX violations, including, the Title IX Coordinator, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator, the Director of Compliance and Investigations, the Assistant Director of Sexual Misconduct Advocacy & Education, and the Respondent Advocate, including issuing interim measures, reasonable accommodations, training materials, and safety planning. Commuter and Off Campus Communities Educates and creatively engage off campus communities to ensure awareness and compliance of community standards. Oversees the assessment of the commuter and off campus student experience. Serves as liaison to off-campus students, fostering community partnerships, and promoting responsible citizenship. Administration, Assessment and Compliance Serves as the University's Maxient expert super user by overseeing case management, staff training on software use and maximizing the functionality of the platform with updates. Initiates annual goal setting and outcomes assessment, maintains accurate and complete conduct records in compliance with the records retention policy, and effectively communicates student conduct policies, procedures, and services through the delivery of online materials to the campus community. Manages the university's student conduct records and all related record disclosure requests in accordance withFERPAregulations. Conducts an annual review and audit of the Student Code of Conduct and student conduct processes to recommend appropriate revisions and provide statistical reports and summaries regarding caseloads, types of conduct cases and outcomes. Manages, oversees, and supervises the crises response procedures, manuals, and trainings for after-hours crises response for all levels of the residence hall on-call rotation. Divisional Liaison Represents the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards and Residence Life on the University's Students of Concern Committee. Serves as a member of the Clery Team and provides annual statistics on Alcohol, Drug, and Weapons referrals. Represents the division of Student Development & Campus Life on various University-wide committees and initiatives. Collaborates closely with the Student Counseling Center on referrals regarding mental health treatment and support services, as well as sanctions related to alcohol and drug education. Supports the University at major and large-scale campus events, including orientation, graduation, and admitted student days. Training Provides campus-wide training regarding the Student Code of Conduct, incident reporting,FERPA, and records requests. Ensures that the student conduct process is equitable, educational, and restorative through the implementation and use of best practices and comprehensive hearing officer training. Manages the training, onboarding, and supervision of all informal and formal hearing officers. Assists the Director for Residence Life with training of professional and paraprofessional staff, reviewing their performance and providing effective feedback to staff including but not limited to: Area Coordinators and Assistant Area Coordinators who serve as informal hearing officers and supervisors of Resident/Community Assistants; Resident/Community Assistants on appropriate documentation, confrontation, and promotion of University standards of behavior.
Secondary Responsibilities - Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of all cultures and backgrounds. Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing training. and/or courses required by Student Development & Campus Life leadership. Manages the Office of Student Conduct social media accounts. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications - Master's degree in counseling, student personnel, or another relevant field. Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in student affairs, with increasing responsibilities and emphasis in student conduct. Working knowledge of legal and compliance issues related to higher education, student conduct and Title IX, including but not limited to knowledge of federal and state regulations such asFERPA, Title IX, the Clery Act, and due process. Familiarity with University policies and procedures. Extensive experience working with university public safety, student counseling, alcohol and other drug educators, and residence life staff. Excellent administrative, interpersonal and communication skills. Maxient data management experience and training. Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications - Significant experience with issues of Sexual Misconduct including the adjudication of Student Sexual Misconduct cases and providing education, outreach, and compliance regarding sexual violence issues impacting higher education. Experience working with the specific needs and challenges of off-campus and commuter students especially as it relates to programming, resources, and outreach tailored to these populations.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours - Weekend and evening work hours as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities. Ability to maneuver throughout the La Salle campus and surrounding neighborhoods where commuter students live.
