Barista Job DescriptionA Barista is a professional who makes and serves beverages such as coffee, tea and specialty beverages. They are responsible for taking customer orders and payments. They also clean and sanitize their work areas, seating areas and equipment/tools.ResponsibilitiesGreet customers as they enterGive customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredientsTake orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)Prepare beverages following recipesServe beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffinsReceive and process payments (cash and credit cards)Keep the bar area cleanMaintain stock of clean mugs and platesCheck if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needsComply with health and safety regulationsCommunicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu itemsRequirement and skills:Hands-on experience with brewing equipmentKnowledge of sanitation regulationsBasic math skillsAbility to gauge customers' preferencesExcellent communication skillsHigh school diploma or GEDPlease note, nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities based on mission requirements.Physical Requirements:Lift and carry up to 50 poundsStands and moves within the cafe for 6 to 7 hours (Excluding break and lunch periods)Ability to bend and stoop for cleaning duties Blackstone Consulting
