JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled Electrician to join our team, specializing in electrical repairs and maintenance of temporary service equipment. The ideal candidate will install and remove equipment on board ships as well as in the shipyard while performing various essential tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS

Trade school certificate in electrical training or equivalent work experience. Minimum of two years marine electrical experience and/or four years of general electrical experience. Ability to pass assessments or participate in a training program. Proficient in reading and troubleshooting equipment from schematics and diagrams. Trained in electrical safety protocols and lockout/tag-out procedures. Capability to work at heights and in confined spaces, flexible with shift schedules. Excellent comprehension of written and verbal instructions.

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

Inspect, set up, and remove equipment ensuring safe operations. Perform repairs using the specified tools and equipment. Complete various reports and maintain documentation as needed. Install and test equipment related to temporary services, such as power panels and ventilation systems. Set up, inspect, and test public address and alarm systems. Operate portable generators and fire pumps as necessary. Manage the installation and removal of portable water hoses and other services. Collaborate with managers and tradespeople to identify service needs. Assist in other trade work within the department. Participate in cleanup and safety programs in the workplace.

MATERIALS, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDS

Utilize hand tools, power tools, meters, forklifts, and other equipment necessary for the tasks, along with required personal protective equipment.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL INVOLVEMENT

This position requires a significant level of physical activity including walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted, while maintaining safety awareness and adhering to safety regulations.

MARGINAL JOB TASKS

Perform housekeeping duties and attend safety meetings as required.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Work primarily outdoors, facing exposure to various climates and conditions that may include wet, humid environments along with mechanical noise.

PAYSCALE

$34.43-$37.78 This is a reasonable estimate of the hourly range for this role and is subject to changes based on skills, experience, and other factors.
