Cost Accountant

Summary Responsible for assisting Project Managers and Operations with job costs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Accurately update or create new project budgets based on information from Operations Work closely with Office Manager and General Manager in month end process Communicate effectively between Operations and Accounting – with emphasis on ability to work with operations in getting desired result for financial reporting Process subcontractor payments and reconciling discrepancies Set up new cost codes for field use in reporting time and quantities Research discrepancies from subcontractors and present to Project Managers with resolution outlined Assist Project Managers in researching costs on jobs and accuracy of information Set up new projects in accounting software and work with Contracts Administrator on setting up new Subcontracts or Purchase Orders for jobs Work with Project Managers and Contract Administrator on job close out processes Work with Plant Accountant on daily asphalt plant costing Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience Strong quantitative and analytical skills Must have good organization skills Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast paced, high‑pressure environment Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Viewpoint Vista and Heavy Job preferred Problem solving skills with attention to detail Self‑motivated; ability to work independently Good written and verbal communication skills Equal Opportunity Employer – It is the policy of Rieth‑Riley to assure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their veteran status, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, color, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, citizen status, and/or any other applicable legally‑recognized protected class under local, state or federal law.
