Cayuga Lake National Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Consumer Loan Underwriter & Compliance Officer to join our growing lending team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in evaluating consumer loan applications, supporting secondary market initiatives, and ensuring compliance with federal and state lending regulations. What You’ll Do

Consumer Loan Underwriting

  • Analyze and underwrite a variety of consumer loan products including:
    • Real estate loans
    • Personal loans
    • Auto loans
    • Credit cards
    • Secured and unsecured lending products
  • Evaluate income, assets, credit history, debt-to-income ratios, and collateral documentation
  • Make timely lending decisions in accordance with established credit policies and risk standards
  • Ensure loan documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with consumer lending regulations, including:
    • TILA / Regulation Z
    • ECOA / Regulation B
    • FCRA
    • Fair Lending laws
    • Applicable state regulations
  • Review loan files and lending processes for compliance accuracy and quality control
  • Identify and resolve deficiencies or compliance exceptions
  • Support audits, risk assessments, and internal compliance initiatives

Secondary Market & Operational Support

  • Prepare and qualify loans for secondary market eligibility
  • Stay informed on changing regulatory requirements, lending trends, and market conditions
  • Provide guidance and support to lending staff and management
  • Assist with policy development, training, and process improvements
  • Participate in community and branch activities that support the Bank’s local presence
Requirements:

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in consumer loan underwriting and/or lending compliance
  • Strong understanding of consumer lending regulations and underwriting principles
  • Experience within a bank, credit union, fintech lender, or similar financial institution preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Familiarity with loan origination systems such as MeridianLink Mortgage or similar platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Compensation: $60000-$75000 per year
