About the Opportunity Job Summary: The Program Manager plays a critical role in the operation of a high-impact research program while ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and coordination of all program activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management, communication, and organizational skills, with experience in academic or research environments. The Program Manager works closely with the Finance Manager to support operational financial oversight, including budget tracking, expenditure, and alignment with sponsor requirements. As part of the role, overnight travel may be required to accompany the Principal Investigator and/or research staff on visits to subawardee sites across the country, as well as to attend sponsor-mandated events. Travel is typically expected three to five times per year over the duration of the award, depending on the schedule of activities. A valid U.S. driver’s license with a safe driving record and the ability to travel as required are essential. The Program Manager also supports program travel logistics. This position is 100% externally funded and will be reappointed on an annual basis based on the continued availability of funding. Key Responsibilities Managing schedules, milestones, risks, and deliverables across internal and external teams. Coordinating reporting, budgeting, and documentation with the Financial Manager. Ensuring timely invoicing and task completion by sub‑award recipients. Developing and maintaining reporting and presentation templates in compliance with sponsor guidelines. Organizing and documenting meetings, events, and site visits. Supporting the PI with travel coordination and stakeholder engagement. Facilitating communication between Northeastern University and sub‑award partners to integrate and test final deliverables. Qualifications Candidates with demonstrated program management experience coordinating multiple contractors under a single contract with milestone‑driven deliverables on a defined schedule. Familiarity with healthcare delivery environments, network engineering, cybersecurity, and/or medical devices is a plus. Strong understanding of scientific and technical practices, including technical writing and reporting, and experience launching new projects or programs. Completion of a master’s degree with three to five years of relevant experience; a Ph.D. is preferred. Position Type Information Technology Compensation Grade/Pay Type: 112S. Expected Hiring Range: $99,010.00 - $143,567.50. Starting salary will depend on factors such as education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly situated employees already in the role.
