Description/Job Summary
Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) is accepting applications for the part-time position of Summer Program Nurse. The Upward Bound Math and Science Program (UBMS) is a federally funded initiative aimed at supporting first generation, underserved high school students by enhancing their math and science skills and encouraging them to pursue STEM fields.
The Summer Program Nurse plays a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all student participants and residential staff in the Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) summer residential program. The nurse will assess and respond to medical needs, manage medication protocols, and contribute to a safe and healthy residential environment. This position reports to the Program Director and works closely with residential staff, campus safety, and local health providers as needed.
***This is a six (6) week summer program. ***
Responsibilities/Duties Health Services & Care Coordination
• Assess and monitor the health and hygiene needs of students and residential staff throughout the summer program.
• Administer first aid and routine medical care; manage acute and chronic health issues as needed.
• Dispense prescribed and over-the-counter medications in accordance with physician instructions and state regulations.
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records, including medication logs, treatment records, and incident reports.
Health Oversight & Emergency Response
• Review student medical forms prior to and during the program to identify and communicate any medical concerns or needs to appropriate staff.
• Respond promptly and effectively to health-related incidents, including injuries, illnesses, and mental health concerns.
• Collaborate with emergency personnel or medical facilities when necessary to support student and staff well-being.
• Ensure adherence to all UBMS health and safety policies, and state/federal youth residential care guidelines.
Environmental Health & Prevention
• Conduct daily rounds of the residential and classroom facilities to monitor health and hygiene concerns.
• Report facility hazards or potential health risks to the Program Director and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Assist in the development and delivery of health and wellness trainings or informational sessions for students and staff.
• Monitor for signs of communicable illness and enforce health protocols to prevent outbreaks.
Compliance & Documentation
• Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation for all medical interventions, treatments, and health concerns.
• Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in the handling of all student health records.
• Complete and submit incident and accident reports in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications Education:
Associate's degree in Nursing.
Experience :
One (1) year of nursing experience which must include the following:
Ability to work during program hours, including evenings for on-call response or health-related duties.

- Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland.
- CPR and First Aid certification (current or renewable prior to start).
Ability to work during program hours, including evenings for on-call response or health-related duties.

- Prior experience working in a summer residential program, youth camp, or school health environment.
- Familiarity with summer camp health practices, mental health first aid, and trauma-informed care.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation youth.
- Knowledge of general nursing practices, medication administration, and youth health management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to youth development and safety.
