Manufacturing Engineering provides technical expertise to numerous manufacturing and development programs within Raytheon. Our work involves electronic hardware for radar, missile and combat systems. The Andover, MA location has over 1 million square feet of manufacturing/production space where product is both assembled and tested. The Principal Engineer role will work as a Lead for Raytheon GEM-T Manufacturing.What You Will DoActs as a technical lead for Patriot GEM-T Manufacturing Engineering, supporting a large team of manufacturing engineers in day-to-dayDrive strong technical problem solving in support of manufacturing operationsDevelop, maintain, and review Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, tool and fixture designsSupport a manufacturing area, as part of cross-functional team, by guiding the production team through process troubleshooting and incorporation of engineering changes into the MDPDrive Continuous Improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce costs (both direct and indirect) using CORE principles and data driven decision makingEngage in design development and/or transition to production at various product phases as the Manufacturing Engineering contributor. Provide real-time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators, in-house as well as the supply baseUse manufacturing systems and software, including Microsoft and SAP based applications, to maintain production-relevant information and perform basic data analysis to identify trends within quality dataInfrequent travel may be requested on an as-needed basisApply manufacturing engineering skillsets across the extended value stream to resolve constraints and improve process and product designsLeverage knowledge and technical skills to influence business decisions and results from new designs to recurring productionDesign, control, and improve the producibility of products through collaboration with a multi-disciplined teamLead and coordinate projects, efforts, and improvements across the extended value streamsAct as the manufacturing and producibility authority within the programCommunicates and coordinates change reviews and effectivities with CM and IPL, including CNs and VariancesParticipate in program ERBs, CCBs, MRBsEvaluates factory technical issues and escalates as appropriate to program engineering, program leadership, MPMsAssists in resolving factory to factory quality issues, RCCA, etcQualifications You Must HaveTypically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience5+ years of manufacturing experienceThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
