Property Underwriter (Level II or Level III)

Title: Property Underwriter (Level II or Senior Level III) Location: Cleveland, OH | Pittsburgh, PA Job Type: Full Time/Permanent Summary: Seeking for a Property Underwriter (Level II or Senior Level III) to join the Accounts Insurance team. This hybrid role can be based in Cleveland or Pittsburgh, with a requirement to be in the office or market three days a week. In this position, you will leverage your marketing and analytical skills to underwrite new and renewal property insurance business. Operating within assigned authority levels and using underwriting best practices, you will manage technically complex assignments while delivering exceptional service to customers. This is a market-facing role , requiring a strong sales execution mindset and in-depth knowledge of property insurance policies. Key Accountabilities for the Property Underwriter Role: Administer and ensure compliance with underwriting rules, guidelines, rating manual regulations, and applicable insurance laws. Collaborate with Line of Business representatives and stakeholders to address business needs effectively. Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors (agents and brokers) to support both business retention and acquisition. Identify and address the insurance-related needs of customers and provide tailored solutions. Actively support the organization's sales culture by serving as a key resource for agents, brokers, and customers. Proactively identify renewal and new account opportunities. Conduct detailed assessments with key distributors to uncover growth prospects. Evaluate and qualify accounts in alignment with the organization's risk appetite while pursuing sound business opportunities. Plan and execute broker/customer on-site visits with clear objectives and preparation. Basic Qualifications Level II: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area. OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business Experience with Microsoft Office OR Basic Qualifications Sr. Level: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business Experience working in a team environment Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree Technical knowledge of commercial Property Underwriting Established broker relationships (Retail, select brokers) in Midwestern Region Sales execution mindset Creative problem-solving skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Switch4 LLC
