Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week accepted | 13–26 week contracts accepted

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for patients with diagnoses including diabetes, CHF, sepsis, GI bleed, renal failure, COPD, pneumonia, and various surgical recovery cases
• Perform telemetry monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias via remote and on-unit monitoring
• Manage a broad range of clinical skills including IV insertion and maintenance, PICC line management, central line blood draws, blood product administration, phlebotomy, PCA, heparin, and insulin administration
• Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP management, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Perform wound care, wound vac management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and chest tube care
• Float as needed to the main campus facility; participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments as required during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or MS/Telemetry RN experience
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be available to work every other weekend and 2 of 3 major holidays; no block schedules unless a weekend block
• Local candidates are welcome; candidates within 50 miles of the facility should be aware that a lower rate applies

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Charge nurse experience preferred
• ACLS certification; experience with post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI care, IV insulin protocols, and arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
• Experience with tracheostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), port access/management, surgical drains, and bariatric surgery patients
• Community hospital experience and proficiency with electronic documentation
