Transplant Surgery Physician, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital

Job Description Sentara Medical Group is seeking a skilled and experienced Abdominal Transplant Surgeon to join our well-established transplant programs in Norfolk, Virginia. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated, team-oriented physician with strong clinical and interpersonal skills to help shape and expand a dynamic program. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital has been a leading center for kidney and pancreas transplants since 1972, performing over 2,000 successful transplants and offering comprehensive care for patients with end-stage renal disease. The Sentara Transplant center is recognized as one of the most active kidney transplant centers in Virginia, performing between 90-120 transplants annually including multivesicular kidney pancreas and heart kidney transplants. The program also offers robotic and laparoscopic living donor kidney transplantation and participates with the National Kidney Registry. Additionally, 8-12 pediatric kidney transplants are performed annually in collaboration with the Children s Hospital of the King s Daughters. Position Highlights Join a team of 2 experienced Abdominal Transplant surgeons, to facilitate program growth and development. The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of experience and demonstrate robust capabilities with a commitment to quality and regulatory metrics. There are opportunities for clinical and translational research and participation in medical student and resident education are expected. Education Completion of an accredited American Board of Surgery general surgery residency program and an ASTS-approved fellowship program in solid organ transplantation. Eligible for or a licensed to practice medicine in Virginia Candidates must be actively performing or trained to perform living donor nephrectomies and kidney transplantation in their current position and have a strong interest in living donor kidney transplantation.
