Welder

Welder Position

Shambaugh & Son L.P. is looking for a welder in our fire fabrication shop. In this position, you will be responsible for using a universal welder to make cuts and welds on steel pipe.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Reading blueprints and drawings
• Taking measurements to plan layouts
• Setting up welding machine according to specifications
• Welding components using semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions
• Maintaining equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Testing all machine welds to ensure quality
• Welding by hand any leaks found in quality penetration die test
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Four plus years of welding experience
• Ability to read a tape measure
• Pipe welding and welding certificates a plus
• Dependability
• Good attendance and a positive attitude are critical for this position
• Good work ethic and a willingness to learn
• Ability to communicate ideas, thoughts, etc. both verbally and in written form
• Ability to work Saturday (will count against attendance record if missed)
• Must be 18 years or older
• Attention to detail
• Ability to follow directions and communicate with others
• Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, and walk for 8-12 hour shifts
• Ability to pass a drug test
• Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
