This is a senior individual-contributor role with a clear expectation of technical leadership - you will drive design decisions, mentor junior engineers, and serve as an escalation point for hard problems.Work LocationPittsburgh, PA | Plano, TX | Durham, NC | Lisle, ILEducation & Work ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field with 8+ years of relevant software development experience ORMaster's degree in a related technical field with 6+ years of relevant software development experience ORPhD in a related technical field with 3+ years of relevant software development experienceLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.What You Will Be DoingDesign, develop, and maintain product features for NetMaster and SOLVE across z/OS-based environmentsDevelop and consume SMF and zERT record data to enable network monitoring and observability capabilitiesProduce unit tests and perform functional/integration testing to validate software quality against specificationsLead design and code reviews; provide actionable technical feedback to peersServe as technical lead and escalation point for complex production issues involving customer environmentsCoach and mentor junior engineers; support onboarding and knowledge transferWork closely with Product Owners and Architects to translate requirements into robust, maintainable softwareContribute to Agile ceremonies — planning, retrospectives, and end-of-iteration demos — and help identify and resolve team impedimentsWrite and maintain technical documentation covering design, logic, testing, and issue resolutionMinimum Requirements8+ years of hands-on software development experience in an IBM z/OS mainframe environmentMastery of REXX scripting — this is a core skill for this role, not optionalDemonstrated ability to parse, analyze, and act on SMF (System Management Facility) recordsExperience with mainframe debugging tools (XDC, IPCS, SYSLOG analysis, dumps)Familiarity with network security protocols (TLS, SSH, IPSEC) and their use in mainframe environmentTrack record working on complex, large-scale production software with real customer impactAbility to work independently and determine own priorities within a general direction from managementPreferred QualificationsExperience with Assembler and/or Metal C development on z/OS — strongly preferredFamiliarity with zERT (z/OS Encryption Readiness Technology) records and TLS/encryption audit dataSolid experience with mainframe networking concepts (TCP/IP on z/OS, SNA, network performance monitoring)Knowledge of JCL for executing and automating batch processes on z/OSPrior exposure to NetMaster, SOLVE, or comparable mainframe network management productsExperience with ISPF/CLIST, IBM C, or RESTful API integration from mainframeKnowledge of security ESMs (RACF, ACF2, Top Secret) and mainframe security protocols, pass tickets, certificates, keyringsFamiliarity with ZOWE framework — API layerSource control experience in mainframe environments (Endevor or equivalent)Business Travel & Physical DemandsRare to occasional travel may be required for customer engagements or technical conferences.
