This will be accomplished through quality workmanship, meeting AAR Requirements, while providing accurate industry standard formatted billing.Role and ResponsibilitiesSuccessfully complete, perform, and maintain the Field Service Apprentice job functions.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Meet the requirements and pass CFRS’ welding procedures (3/4" plate - all position FCAW). Qualification consists of successfully passing FCAW T2 thickness – all position.Knowledge of AAR Job Codes and associated data field requirements.Properly use AAR Rule 1 and various inspection gages.Perform trouble-shooting diagnostics at customer locations based on defect symptoms reportedNDE qualified based on operational needs (BT, VT,PT,MP,RVI,UTT)Documented training to set up and operate or drive equipment such as, but not limited to: forklift, man lift, crane, back hoe, skid loader, hoist or hydraulic boom.Successfully complete this positions “Education/Formal Training” requirements.Wear PPE in appropriate areasNote: Responsibilities include the expectation to always act to support the interests of the department and organization and to perform other duties as assigned to ensure the successful achievement of departmental and company objectives.Qualifications and Education RequirementsHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)Successfully pass the following courses with an 80% or higher score coordinated by CF Rail ManagementAAR Interchange RulesFreight Car Inspection OverviewBasics of Railroad WheelsFRA Railroad Safety Appliance Standards (Condensed Course) Coupler & Draft Systems courseGuide to Freight Car Trucks courseBody and Truck Side Bearing Gaging and Adjustment CourseSkillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suit and BRC generation software/ shop operating system.Ability to deliver high level of customer service via phone and face to face interaction.Team playerEffective listening skillsHighly effective communication skills verbally and in writing.Language skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English language.Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsReasoning skills Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsPhysical DemandsWork assignments involve standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, crawling, and crouching in strained and awkward positions for prolonged periods of time at various heights up to 20 feet. Uses hands, legs, and arms to climb vertical ladders to staging or suspended platforms. Lifts, carries, and sets up equipment and components that weigh up to 50 lbs. Employee must be medically certified to wear a respirator, as well as be able to wear respirators for prolonged periods of time.Ability to operate welding equipmentAbility to operate electrical and pneumatic toolsAbility to operate heavy equipment (Cranes, Jacks)Ability to operate Forklifts, Mobile Service Trucks, Boom LiftsRequired valid driver’s licences, and ability to drive Company vehicles when necessary.Ability to travel within established 200-mile regionAbility to travel for an extended period of time.Work EnvironmentWork will be performed outdoors and indoors in all types of weather, on and around heavy equipment. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
