The HVAC Technician is a full-time, year-round position. The expected salary range for this job opportunity is: $40 to $45 per hour.The salary offered will vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to relevant education, training, and experience, tenure status, and other nondiscriminatory business considerations. Performs software work related to the operation, maintenance, repair, programming and installation of building automation systems and HVAC controls. This includes troubleshooting and performing maintenance services on all types of control systems associated with building automation, including information technology, safety, energy management, digital, electronic, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic. Tests, troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs all types of building automation system equipment and software. This would include all HVAC equipment and controls, fan and blowers including troubleshooting of motors, fan coils, VAVs, heat exchangers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air conditioning and pumps, etc.Ability to read wiring diagrams and blueprints and troubleshoot low-voltage circuitry. Responsible for providing advice/guidance to other staff that may be working with these issues. Provides technological expertise as a point of contact for system controls with manufacturer representatives and building automation service contractors.Current on-campus systems include the Automated Logic and Andover/Schneider Electric Building Management systems.The position is considered an essential position meaning the employee is expected to report to work even if the College is closed for weather-related or other reasons. Due to the nature of the position, some work outside normal operation hours (evenings, weekends and holidays) is required and must respond to emergencies as needed.This position provides essential services to the College and requires 24-hour emergency response to address systems and operations that have a broad impact on campus. This position is expected to use their cellular device to manage these urgent response requirements as needed to perform the requirements of the position.Summary of Responsibilities:General and Planned Maintenance of SystemsMaintain, troubleshoot, and repair all building management systems and controls associated with heating, ventilation, air conditioning systems, including electric, electronic, and pneumatic controls.Planned maintenance programs to keep the integrity of all building management systems.Effectively collaborate and communicate with a diverse set of colleagues.Installation of SystemsConduct new installations of HVAC systems and controls associated with space upgrades, renovations or expansion of systems.System Repair ResponseResponse and execution of emergency calls on all HVAC and building management systems.Qualifications:RequiredHigh School Diploma or equivalent.HVAC trade school certificate or 5 + years of experience.Specialized skill training/certification in lieu of minimum education and related experience.Strong written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills.Successful completion of required reference and background checks.An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check.Successful completion of pre-employment physical and lift test.Valid driver's license and successful completion of Five College Risk Management driver credentialing program.PreferredAssociate's Degree in a related field or 8 + years of experience with commercial and industrial HVAC and controls work in lieu of a degree.MA Journeyman Pipefitter's License.MA Refrigeration Technician's License.MA Oil Burner's License.Interested candidates are asked to submit a resume and cover letter online.
