Housekeeper

Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for the members of South Franklin Circle.

• Perform assigned cleaning duties including but not limited to: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning member bathrooms, making beds, emptying trash, washing windows, and cleaning of restrooms and public areas.

• Perform a variety of building maintenance tasks including but not limited to: maintenance of carpet and hard floors, cleaning ceilings and light fixtures, hanging drapery, moving furniture, and completing facility set-up requests.

• Communicate with supervisor, coworkers, and members to ensure duties such as furniture moves and set-ups are completed according to the member's request.

• Report any unsafe condition or situation throughout the facility to the Supervisor or Security.

• Keep track of inventory and update inventory list as needed.

• In addition to these routine duties, may be cross-trained in basic laundry operations and other job classifications within the Environmental Services department.

• Takes pride in providing a neat, clean, and comfortable living environment for the members.

• Enjoys socializing with older adults while providing housekeeping or maintenance services in their homes.

• Conveys a sense of understanding and regard for other people's feelings, especially with individuals who have physical or cognitive impairments.

• Exemplifies the highest level of customer service. For example: greets members with a smile and a positive attitude; calls members by Mr. or Mrs.; uses a member's first name only if it has been requested; knocks before entering a member's apartment; and enters a member's apartment to provide services only if invited in or if given approval by the member to enter in their absence.

• Provides honest and open communication with members, managers, and coworkers.

• Works as a team player within Environmental Services and all other departments.

• Willing to pitch in to complete a task even when it's outside of the job description.

• Attention to quality and detail of work such as in the neatness and cleanliness of the members' homes and common areas.

• Highest regard for personal appearance: uniform, hair, and nails are neat and clean.

• Strong communication, oral, written, and listening skills.

• Refrains from visiting members on unscheduled/unauthorized visits.

• Does not accept gifts, gratuities, or tips of any kind from members including food for individual consumption. (Gifts of food that are shared with the entire department are permitted).

• High school diploma or GED.

• Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.

• Valid driver's license and safe driving record required is a plus.

Must be able to pass physical examination upon employment and periodically thereafter if so required. Have no handicaps which would preclude the performance of the essential functions outlined in this job description.

Physical demands may include kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching, pushing, manipulating stairs, talking, hearing, standing for extended periods, crouching, stooping, walking, lifting a minimum of 60 pounds, and repetitive motion.

Controlled climate and all types of weather. Must be able to tolerate working conditions consistent with duties outlined in this job description; e.g. reasonable noise levels, dust and other particulate matter, exposure to a variety of cleaning chemicals and odors, and an environment that supports animal life.
