Aviation Technician

Aviation technician troubleshoots, repairs, and/or overhauls, and tests aircraft components to include the removal and reinstallation of all sub-components. Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Work involves disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and test of those components serviced and piece parts of the repair station manual.
• Applies technical knowledge of aircraft components in determining equipment malfunctions.
• Applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
• Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturer's manuals.
• Will be required to make entries in work order documentation for work performed.
• Provides other duties as needed and assigned.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred. Minimum four years of actual and recent experience in the repair, modification, maintenance, and overhaul, testing of APU. Demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional groups.

Technical Skills

Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings, and other small scales. May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklifts, etc. Demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills; ability to interact positively with teammates at various levels across the company and with customers. Must be able to read dials/gauges, and identify small objects and hand tools.

Language Skills

• Fluent in English
• Foreign Language skills desirable

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and document maintenance functions. Ability to communicate effectively across mediums, audiences, and situations.

Mathematical Skills

• Above average

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Physical Demands

Customary physical demands for warehouse environment, including:

o Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., over 40 lbs. with assistance.

Customary warehouse environment, including fluctuating temperatures based on weather conditions
