Staff Engineering Technician (Charlotte, NC - Onsite)

Other Location: Orlando, FL - Onsite

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:
•The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high-quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying site development plans using industry-standard design tools, such as Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
•Functions in a project engineering technician capacity.
•Under general direction, supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables.
•Applies foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions.
•Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modelling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
•Provides technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.

• Appliesknowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides,applicable codes and policies and procedures.
• Mayreview project requirements and accurately determine the correct formatand contents of the required deliverables.
• Proactivelyapplies Quality Program to deliverables. Demonstrates personal accuracyand supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Reviewsdesign inputs in order to ensure consistency. Assists to ensuredeliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standardssuitable for the project.
• Mayapply basic engineering principles and established design practices indeveloping moderately complex design concepts and deliverables. Begins toapply judgment and make decisions with respect to deliverables and inputinterpretation.
• Capableof handling difficult technical assignments within an area of expertiseand can provide technical guidance to other professionals.
• Performsdesign calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, andrecords.
• Mayreview the deliverables of others.
• Maydefine work assignments and maintain schedules.
• Mayprogram control systems or participate in other plant start-up activitiesassociated with a specialized area of expertise.
• Coordinateswith other design group personnel to review and exchange projectinformation necessary for design development.
• Maysupport field activities. Focuses on the needs of internal clients whileutilizing an understanding of external client's main interests anddrivers.
• Proactivelyseeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes .
• Mayapply judgment and makes decisions with respect to deliverables and inputinterpretation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Diplomaor Certificate required. Associate Degree in Drafting or an EngineeringDesign Related Technology preferred.

•Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
