Header Lead

POSITION SUMMARY
This role combines advanced welding expertise (MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core) with leadership responsibilities, supporting production goals and mentoring welders in safety, technique, and productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Lead and coordinate daily welding activities for assigned team or shift
• Perform advanced welding tasks on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials using multiple processes
• Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings to guide team execution
• Inspect welds for quality and conformance to specifications and codes (AWS, ASME, etc.)
• Train and mentor welders on techniques, safety practices, and equipment use
• Monitor productivity and ensure adherence to production schedules
• Collaborate with supervisors, fitters, and quality inspectors to resolve issues
• Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper setup and calibration
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices
• Document production and quality metrics as required

REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES)

• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding processes
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols
• Welding certifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX) preferred
• Prior leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

• High school diploma or GED
• 5+ years of welding experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
