The Rocket Motor Systems team is designing and commissioning automated equipment for high rate production of Solid Rocket Motors at our plant in McHenry, MS. In this role, you will own the SCADA layer that production depends on, from PLC integration through Ignition applications and plant floor visibility.WHAT YOU’LL DODesign, commission, and upgrade control systems for Solid Rocket Motor production equipmentArchitect, write, and debug Siemens PLC code with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable for high-volume manufacturing applicationsGenerate and enforce internal standards for control systems architectures, regulatory compliance, and safety buyoffsIntegrate internal and external FactoryOS software into automation equipment and production linesBuild and maintain SCADA applications in Ignition, including tag architecture, Perspective screens, alarming, and historian configurationLead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures, ensuring rapid resolution and long-term reliabilityInstall, configure, and tune servo drives / VFDsPartner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiativesMentor junior controls engineers and provide technical direction on integrator-delivered workREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering8+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environmentExpert in Siemens PLC programming (Ladder and Structured Text)Proficient in servo drive and VFD configuration, PID tuning, STO/SS, etc.Strong knowledge of ethernet based communication protocols (ProfiNET, ProfiSAFE, Ethernet IP.)Proficient with electrical component selection and a solid foundation of wire sizing, circuit protection, and heat management in control cabinets.Experience developing SCADA applications in Ignition (Perspective, tag architecture, and historian)Experience with performing Risk Assessments and Controls Safety DesignProficient with pneumatic concepts and designFamiliar with NFPA70e electrical safety practicesMust be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilitiesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS12+ years of experience in controls and automation in a production environmentExperience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routingElectrical troubleshooting up to 600VAC.TUV FS Engineer certification (Functional Safety of Machinery)Experience mentoring engineers and setting controls standards across a facilityThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
