Assistant Supervisor

Job Title Assistant Supervisor About the Position We are currently seeking a high‑energy, self‑starting individual to supervise a Residential IRA in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NewYork. In an interdisciplinary team environment, this role maximizes managerial and clinical skills with ongoing support and training. The Assistant Supervisor will provide staff training, mentoring, supervision of 5‑15 direct reports, program oversight, quality assurance, compliance with NYS regulations, clinical programming oversight, advocacy for people we support, and liaison with families. The candidate will work directly with people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities to create opportunities for living, loving, working, and learning. Key Responsibilities Ensure the health, safety, and habilitation of the people we support is consistent with agency philosophy and practice. Maintain an appropriate therapeutic level of supervision in the residence, day program, or community to protect the health and safety of the people we support. Provide program and floor coverage. Promote and maintain the excellence of our programs. Involve family members and other stakeholders, including professionals, in the team process. Keep staff informed by attending meetings and consistently delivering YAI’s mission statement. Foster professional development through regular supervision, training, and evaluations. Supervise staff to ensure they meet agency standards and develop professionally through the supervisory process. Bring the organizational culture to life. Ensure a work environment that is free from harassment and discrimination. Actively participate in the hiring process. Maintain direct relationships with staff and build staff morale. Utilize participatory management and foster open communication among all supports. Maintain oversight and compliance of systems specific to roles and responsibilities. Facilitate communication between relevant supports within the program, the agency, and external agencies. Perform responsibilities as they currently exist or may change in meeting the needs of the department under supervision. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED. Some college preferred. Prior experience as a Direct Support Professional. Background in supporting people with intellectual or developmental disabilities or mental health. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Valid driver’s license. Interpersonal and problem‑solving skills. Well‑developed writing skills. Ability to accept and apply feedback. Highly flexible personality type, able to adjust schedule to meet programmatic needs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills. Ability to learn and use workforce management software to carry out essential business processes. Schedule Full‑time only, Tuesday – Saturday 3:00pm – 11:00pm (may vary depending on location).
