The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN applies the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care and is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comforts, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring/precepting staff. Job Responsibilities: Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. Reviews and revises the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of patients and families. Evaluation: Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. Education: Facilitates and coordinates education specific to patient and family needs. Provides and evaluates education as appropriate throughout the care, treatment, and services during their stay and at discharge. Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functions as a mentor/preceptor and facilitates teamwork. Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. Implements practice changes and complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the Practice Governance model.
