Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuro Intermediate Care Unit

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Neuro Intermediate Care Unit. The ideal candidate will possess a teamwork approach and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with patients and staff. Strong adherence to policies and expectations is essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Neuro Intermediate Care Unit setting.
• Monitor patient conditions and initiate rapid response protocols as needed.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapies, including titration of insulin and vasoactive drips.
• Perform assessments and interventions based on patient needs related to neurological and cardiovascular conditions.
• Manage complex medical needs including feeding tubes, bladder irrigation, and ventilated patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in Neuro settings.
• Experience must include Neuro Stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, or Telemetry.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Proficiency in EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac emergencies.
• Experience with managing complex neurological cases such as aneurysms, CVAs, and post-surgical care.
• Must be able to titrate LEVO and adhere to strict clinical protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as CCRN, TNCC, and CPI.
• Experience with conscious sedation, ICP monitoring, and triage.

Work Schedule

• Shifts: 12-hour overnight shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Weekend shifts required: Minimum of 3 shifts every six weeks.
• Flexible scheduling options available, with contracts ranging from 16 weeks to 27 months.

Team Dynamics

The selected candidate will be expected to engage in a collaborative team environment and uphold behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions. The call-off policy is strictly enforced to maintain unit operations.

Orientation and Training

• Standard orientation includes a combination of computer training and hands-on unit shifts.
• Total orientation duration is 32 hours, including initial hospital orientation.

Uniform Policy

Scrubs are not provided; a combination of navy blue and white scrubs is required.
