Job Title: OPS Building Handy-Person (NHMFL) - Multiple Vacancies Location: Tallahassee, FL Regular/Temporary: Temporary Job ID: 62394 Department: National High Magnetic Field Laboratory - DC Field Facility Responsibilities The MagLab DCFF is seeking a skilled, reliable, and motivated Handy-Person to support a series of facility improvement and refurbishment projects. This is a time-limited, project-focused role responsible for performing a variety of small repairs, light maintenance tasks, cleaning and space-preparation activities within industrial, experimental, laboratory, and office environments. Primary Responsibilities Perform small repairs throughout the facility, including: Patching, filling, and sanding holes in walls. Mounting and unmounting equipment, shelving, fixtures, and other items. Removing adhesives, anchors, hooks, and wall residue. Prepare industrial, laboratory, and office spaces for refurbishment activities: Clearing furniture, work areas. Cleaning walls, floors, and surfaces. Supporting pre painting and pre construction preparation. Apply primer and paint to interior walls and other surfaces. Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment. Report progress, needs, and issues promptly to supervisors. Follow all MagLab safety protocols and demonstrate consistent safety awareness. Work collaboratively and respectfully with staff, project leads, and contractors. Qualifications High School or equivalent Demonstrated experience with interior painting and surface preparation Demonstrated experience in general maintenance, repair, or handy-person work. Strong ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage tasks with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills and a teamwork-oriented, can do outlook. Demonstrated commitment to safety in all work environments. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, standing, bending, and working on ladders. Familiarity with basic tools (hand tools, drills, sanders, etc.). Work Environment This role involves moving between a variety of facility spaces, including industrial, experimental, laboratory, and administrative areas. Safety training will be provided and must be followed at all times. Anticipated Salary Range This position will be 40 hours a week at $20 an hour. The duration of this temporary position is 46 weeks.
