Staff Electrical Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer for a top power and energy consulting client.

The Electrical Power Engineer candidate should have experience within the utility scale power and renewable energy industry and be capable of supporting power generation design projects including leading multiple design and engineering project or administration tasks simultaneously. This candidate will be helping support projects relating to power generation and distribution, renewable energy, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance of plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems. Additional responsibilities include:

• Review and evaluate shop drawings, electrical equipment submittals, and vendor documentation, including:

• Medium‑ and low‑voltage switchgear

• Electrical motors and drives

• Protection and control devices

• I&C and control system interfaces

• Develop and/or review balance‑of‑plant (BOP) electrical designs, including:

• Raceway and cable systems

• Grounding and lightning protection

• Lighting and power distribution

Skills and Requirements

5+ years of experience in electrical power generation (can be mix of thermal, renewable and battery energy storage systems)

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

EIT/PE License Protection and control design experience (setting calculations and electronic files development)

I&C experience with DCS and PLC systems

Field experience with startup and commissioning experience

Previous consulting experience highly preferred
