POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Psychiatrist Supervisor: CEO
Position Function: The primary functions of the Psychiatrist shall be to perform all duties regarding day-to-day medical operations of the organization. This shall include review of client files and their treatment plans, monitoring program outcomes, and program development. The Physician’s tasks shall be inclusive of, but not be limited to, the following:
1. Conduct psychiatric intake assessments.
2. Ensure all client files are current and compliant with reporting requirements.
3. Ensure that all program staff assignments are completed in a timely manner.
4. Maintain and review all medical reports.
5. Coordinate with the management team to ensure all files and documentation are current.
6. Collaborate with the management team in the training of staff on psychopharmacology, assessment, and diagnosis.
7. Review and assist in developing staff training materials.
8. Serve as a liaison between the organization and its licensing agencies.
9. Review and approve service plans.
10. Address the psychiatric and medication needs of clients.
11. Coordinate with the management team on discharge protocols and clinical recommendations.
12. Monitor program outcome measures to ensure quality performance.
13. Perform other duties as necessary to support the ongoing function and operation of the organization.
Educational Requirement: Medical Degree from an accredited medical school; Board Certification in Psychiatry; valid CPR and First Aid certification. Licensure and/or Certification: Must obtain and maintain a full, unrestricted medical license issued by the District of Columbia Board of Medicine. Must maintain Board Certification and current CPR and First Aid credentials. A valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and the ability to travel locally are required.
Experience: At least one year experience, to include demonstrated leadership, familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance, and compliance related operations of the organization. Knowledge of current evidence-based practices and field implementation of those practices. Knowledge of Maryland and DC regulations. Strong management skills to address personnel development and issues. Teamwork oriented, flexibility in working assignments and locations.
Research and training orientation to motivate employees. Data management skills for evaluation and outcome measurement for services and contracts. Excellent written, oral communication
skills, and solution-focused problem-solving skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Proficiency in computer systems and electronic health records.
• Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, analytical, and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with leadership, staff, and community professionals.
• Knowledge of professional standards and ethics applicable to mental health practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee clinical and administrative supervision of program staff.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and provide leadership and support to staff.
• Assist the Executive Team in implementing new and existing programs.
• Participate in Clinical Managers Meetings, Quality Management Committees, and All-Staff meetings.
• Promote the mission and values of Creative Pathways, Inc., including compassion, service, justice, respect, integrity, teamwork, and excellence.
• Develop program strategies consistent with the organization’s goals and objectives.
• Work with the Executive Team to assess, develop, and implement program services that meet client and family needs. Establish and review program policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with the Deputy Compliance Officer to prepare and submit required reports.
• Ensure compliance with all licensing, accreditation, and quality assurance standards.
• Represent Creative Pathways, Inc. at community meetings, committees, and professional boards.
• Evaluate programs to ensure quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
• Attend trainings, conferences, and professional development events as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.
Planning:
• Work with Executive Team to assess, develop and implement program(s) services appropriate to the needs of clients and their families.
• Establish, review and implement program(s) policies and procedures.
• Plans, develops and administers programs with measurable outcomes, for continual improvement.
• Coordinates regional-wide program services and related behavioral/mental health programs and activities.
Implementation:
• Establish, maintain and nurture working relationships with referral sources and other.
community agencies to ensure a steady flow of eligible clients to program(s).
• In consultation with Executive Team, continuously consider new processes and initiatives to improve and/or expand services as appropriate.
• Resolves problems encountered during daily operations, determines appropriate solutions, and promotes teamwork.
• Provide information on program(s) goals and objectives, treatment plans, resources and other pertinent information to appropriate collaterals as needed.
• Monitors the compilation of statistical data and maintenance of departmental reports and records and share appropriate feedback with staff.
• Conducts hiring interviews and selects candidate(s) for job opening(s).
• Provides work instruction, assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments, and encourages innovation.
• Conducts research for special projects.
• In collaboration with Deputy Compliance Officer, prepares and submits written and oral reports.
• Oversee division quality assurance, e.g. regarding state regulations, licensure, and accreditation standards (COA).
• Oversee administrative supervision of division staff. Follow human resources policies to handle personnel matters, e.g., regarding staff competency.
• Advocates for mental health services throughout the community and region, using measurable annual division goals and outcomes. Serve on community committees and boards, representing and promoting Creative Pathways, Inc.
• Evaluates programs to assure appropriate and adequate services and or treatment for clients and families.
• Maintain liaison between state and local agencies
• Attends meetings; participates in seminars and conferences
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Team.
