THE OPPORTUNITY

With revenue of nearly $8 billion, Wellstar Health System is one of Georgia's largest and most integrated healthcare systems comprised of 11 hospitals (including an academic medical center), two additional hospitals that are planned or under construction, hundreds of medical office locations, urgent care and ambulatory sites, a robust employed physician enterprise, and a broad range of post-acute and community-based services.

The Chief Communications Officer is the lead and expert of Wellstar Health System's organizational, consumer, and clinical/provider engagement and communication experience.

To achieve these goals and even greater success throughout the state and potentially regionally, the Wellstar Health System is seeking a proven, inspiring leader with a bias for action and innovation, who will lead the system to be recognized at the state and national level as a top-tier performer. The new leader must be one of the key leaders to ensure Wellstar's "amazing story" permeates in all internal and external communications.

This leader partners to identify and implement organizational focused communication and branding strategy that reaches consumer, team members, clinicals, providers and care givers, along with affiliates in a way that moves them from awareness of Wellstar to patients and ambassadors of the brand. The Chief partners with Wellstar executives to identify and implement strategies that will create a provider and employer of choice brand that engages constituents with multi-modal communication strategies.

This role also partners to build programs to deliver and communicate Wellstar's differentiated value with a team of change agents, leading all aspects of communications and clinical and provider engagement from an integrated perspective. This individual will utilize matrixed/cross-functional teams with expertise in marketing, branding, public relations, digital platform management, internal communications, provider communications, patient and family outreach, and community presence. Particular focus will be in the ability to inspire a strategy that is contemporary, sophisticated, adaptable, and genuine. Wellstar's team members, care givers, clinicians, and providers should feel consistency in the Wellstar messaging, continuous high-quality care and a safe working environment across all locations. There will be a palpable sense of engagement across team members, caregivers, clinicals, and providers.

The individual in this role constantly re-creates themselves to connect cross-functionally and engage internal peers and stakeholders in this effort to drive the communications strategy. Every effort should be made to communicate with the organization's members in ways they desire, understanding that this requires unique digital and personal strategies. These initiatives will bring team members and care givers directly into the creative process to unlock new sources of value.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of master's degree in health or hospital administration, business administration, or a related field including a medical degree.
• Minimum of 15 years of healthcare or health services or related executive experience required, with seven years' experience as a senior executive in a similarly sized operation such as an integrated enterprise network; multi-hospital system; or large complex hospital (academic or community-based teaching center).
• Governance experience to include either reporting to a board or presenting to a board and staffing committees of the board as a member of management.
• Inspirational and visionary leader with a track record of achieving success through others.
• Deep commitment to achieving top decile performance in key strategic areas, including safety and quality.
• Deep commitment to achieving high team member engagement and mentoring others to obtain a high-performing organization.
• High integrity and ethics, commitment to diversity, and keen political acumen.
• Strategic planning skills, including collaboration with the Board in concert with leading the executive team in developing a strategic plan and providing regular updates on the strategic plan based upon changing market conditions and national healthcare trends.
• Ability to exercise influence without using the dynamics of control, with a track record of success in building collaboration among various leaders within and external to the system.
• Superb communications skills, and experience engaging in advocacy initiatives with a variety of constituents (e.g. legislators, payors, regulators, media).
• Fundraising experience to help support the mission of the organization.
