Staff Software Engineer - Engineering LeadVictory Live is a private equity backed technology company aimed at maximizing distribution and yield for live event ticket inventory. We provide an end-to-end software platform for the live ticketing industry, managing thousands of sports, theater, and live music event tickets on behalf of artists, promoters, teams, venues, and professional resellers. Victory Live's comprehensive offerings include an established B2B marketplace along with both a full-service and an automated SaaS platform to handle all elements of the ticket sales lifecycle, from ingestion to sales fulfillment.Victory Live is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in an Engineering Lead role to provide hands-on technical leadership for our consumer-facing ticketing products. These products include white-label web storefronts, checkout experiences, and mobile applications that connect fans with live-event inventory through Victory Live's broader ticketing platform. This role is for an experienced engineer who can set technical direction, contribute directly to the codebase, and create the clarity a distributed team needs to deliver effectively. The B2C Engineering Lead will partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering Leadership to translate customer and business priorities into reliable software, improve engineering execution, and evolve the platform without losing sight of the consumer experience.ResponsibilitiesOwn technical execution for Victory Live's B2C platform across consumer web, checkout, mobile, and supporting backend servicesLead the design and implementation of complex or high-impact initiatives while contributing directly to production codeEstablish clear technical direction, decompose product goals into executable engineering plans, remove blockers, and surface tradeoffs, dependencies, and delivery risks earlyContribute to strategic planning, shaping the long-term technical roadmapStrengthen engineering execution and keep development on track across a distributed team through thoughtful planning, estimation, code review, release readiness, and follow-throughPartner with Product and Design to improve the full consumer journey, including discovery, page performance, account experiences, checkout, payments, and post-purchase fulfillment while defining and maintaining backlogOwn production quality for the B2C platform through observability, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous reliability improvementsImprove platform scalability and resilience for concentrated, high-demand on-sales and other revenue-critical traffic eventsParticipate in on-call triage and assessment when neededGuide the evolution of a multi-tenant, white-label platform, balancing shared capabilities with the needs of affiliates, brands, and end consumersCoordinate effectively across internal platform teams, contractors, and external development partners, with clear technical boundaries and accountabilityMentor senior, mid-level, and junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, pairing, and knowledge sharing; raise the team's ability to make sound technical decisions independentlyStrengthen engineering standards for architecture, testing, security, documentation (engineering- and business-facing), deployment, and operational ownershipIdentify and reduce technical debt to keep systems maintainable long-termRequirements10+ years of professional software development experience, including experience leading technical delivery for a team or major product areaStrong proficiency in modern TypeScript and JavaScript application development, including:React and Next.jsNode.js backend or serverless servicesReact Native and Expo, or comparable mobile application experienceIntegration with Rails/Python backendsSQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQLStrong experience building and maintaining high-traffic, consumer-facing web and mobile applications and services at scaleDeep understanding of software engineering best practicesExperience with cloud-native delivery platforms such as AWS and Vercel, along with containerized or serverless workloadsStrong understanding of API design, distributed systems, authentication, caching, asynchronous workflows, and third-party integrationsStrong foundation with the pillars of observability (logging, metrics, tracing), alerting, incident response, tools such as Datadog, Sentry, or comparable monitoring and logging platformsStrong foundation in comprehensive testing, unit, integration and end-to-end testing, test-driven development.Proven ability to own systems end to end—from architecture and implementation through deployment, production support, and continuous improvementDemonstrated ability to lead through influence, create clarity in ambiguous situations, and help distributed engineers work effectively as a teamStrong product judgment and empathy for end users, with the ability to connect technical decisions to performance, reliability, conversion, and customer trustExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to product and business partnersExperience with e-commerce, checkout, payments, marketplaces, ticketing, or multi-tenant SaaS platforms is a plusOur ValuesQuality of life.
