Ultrasound Technologist - OBGYN

Job Description The Ultrasound Tech provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis. We are seeking a sonographer who is confident performing OBGYN examinations and thrives in a collaborative clinic environment. This individual will work closely with physicians, certified nurse midwives, and nursing staff in a busy, patient-focused practice. Job Details Shift: Wednesdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Location: Central Orem Clinic, Orem OBGYN & Nurse Midwives Additional Details: Opportunity to pick up additional shifts based on department needs. Monday through Friday schedule with no call, weekends, or holidays. Essential Functions Maintains American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and modality-specific competency in all clinical and technical functions. Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam. Performs exams per department protocol and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy. Completes studies within acceptable time limits without compromising patient care or quality. Assists and instructs students and other Radiology Techs in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment. Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses concerns. Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques. Understands and operates equipment and related information systems to ensure quality images. Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions. Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, QC programs, and reporting equipment failures. Skills Following Protocols Equipment operation Patient Identification Documentations Customer Service Management Reporting Vascular Cleaning Imaging Techniques Anatomical Knowledge Prioritize Tasks Effective communication Independent work Teamwork Emergency response Image evaluation Equipment operation Qualifications Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular) Health Services\\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers) Preferred Qualifications One year or more of ultrasound experience. OBGYN registry credential, or ability to obtain the credential within one year of hire. OBGYN ultrasound experience in either a hospital or clinic setting. Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.) May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
