Respiratory Therapist

Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures. Provides assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities. Exhibits sound judgment and develops clinical skills to provide input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on diagnosis and physician orders in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from patients, families, and healthcare providers through competent patient assessment. Attentively monitors and cares for patients while facilitating effective communication. Handles all adult services including emergency, respiratory therapy, code blue, and ICU. Demonstrates skills in adult critical care, aerosol setups, intubation assistance, and management of mechanical ventilation. Maintains proficiency in performing procedures such as arterial punctures, tracheostomy care, and interpretation of arterial blood gases. Engages in pulmonary hygiene and is familiar with various respiratory therapy administration techniques.
