About the Role As the first point of contact for most clients, Tellers play a key role in delivering on the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards. With guidance from the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager, the Teller's primary responsibility is to ensure banking transactions are performed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with Columbia Bank procedures and banking regulations. The Teller role also maintains and enhances client relationships through meaningful conversations that uncover client needs and identify opportunities to provide additional bank products and services. Tellers perform teller transactions and cash handling functions for clients with accuracy and confidentiality, examples including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, and balancing the cash drawer. Accurately performs and supports daily tasks that maintain the integrity of the branch. Tasks include appropriate use of double custody in balancing the ATM, processing night drop deposits, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, balancing the credit card machine, updating lobby rate sheets and brochures, and more. Mitigates risk by ensuring safekeeping of money in the cash drawer and prompt accounting or transfer of funds. Interacts with external and internal clients, anticipates needs, and consistently provides proactive solutions and problem resolutions in alignment with the bank’s Breakthrough Client Service Standards. Continuously deepens knowledge of Columbia Bank's product and service offerings and stays current on changes. Discusses and uncovers customers’ financial needs to identify and offer appropriate products and services and supports referral goals for the branch by focusing and identifying and referring basic bank products to the appropriate business partner. About You High School Diploma or GED, required. One year of previous banking or customer service experience preferred. Bilingual preferred. Must be able to learn and comply with all Bank policies, procedures, and systems. Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with written numbers, words, and verbal and written instructions. Consistently demonstrates ability and willingness to build relationships with clients and other bank associates. Compensation & Benefits The pay range for this role is $18.00 to $20.00 per hour. The pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non‑discriminatory factors, including job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation; details will be provided during the recruitment process.
