Role Overview As an Occupational Therapy Assistant , you will empower students in Grades K-12 with special needs to achieve educational success by delivering occupational therapy services under the guidance of a licensed Occupational Therapist, across multiple Spectrum School locations. Provide targeted occupational therapy interventions aligned with students' IEPs, following designated service hours and schedules. Assist the Occupational Therapist during evaluations by collecting data, administering standardized assessments, and observing students to determine functional capabilities and developmental needs. Maintain precise, organized documentation of student progress, including daily notes and progress reports, in compliance with district and program protocols. Collaborate with educators and support staff to integrate therapeutic goals into classroom activities and provide strategies and accommodations. Modify classroom environments, resources, and instructional materials under supervision to enhance engagement and access to the curriculum. Assist with training school staff and families on the use of adaptive equipment and practical techniques to boost independence. Ensure therapy tools, equipment, and supplies are maintained and report any issues to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Attend IEP meetings and professional development activities, contributing to planning and support for students. Uphold professional and ethical standards, including confidentiality and cultural respect. Travel regularly and maintain onsite presence to support multiple Spectrum School locations within the designated region. Perform additional tasks as assigned to advance the mission and effectiveness of Spectrum Center Schools and Programs. Qualifications Associate’s degree or higher in occupational therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program. Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field preferred. Currently licensed or in the process of obtaining a COTA credential. Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company-approved crisis management training. Prior experience or knowledge in providing occupational therapy services, preferably in an alternative special education or behavioral health program. Experience with special education services and compliance for students with learning disabilities, autism, emotional/behavioral disorders, or related disabilities. Experience with students who have IEPs is preferred. Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to present information and respond to questions from staff, students, parents, and the public. Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office and basic office equipment.
