This ASC is adaptable to all specialties and offers three operating rooms and one procedure room. Position Summary This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and the standards of professional nursing practice. The role is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by the nurse or others under their direction. The nurse applies specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data and provide care appropriate to the age and condition of the assigned patients. Essential Functions Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review patient history, physical, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers; complete assessments and reassessments as outlined in policy. Formulate and implement a plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on assessment data, patient, family, and health team input. Set realistic, measurable goals developed in conjunction with the patient/family and consider the patient’s physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific, and educational needs. Carry out the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team. Provide care based on physician orders and the nursing plan in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements. Promote continuity of care by communicating the patient’s status to other caregivers. Evaluate the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching and revise the plan of care as needed. Assess patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team. Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record. Ensure documentation is legible, timely, and meets policy requirements. Apply the best evidence available and may participate in research activities. Participate in departmental or facility shared leadership and in orientation and education of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors. Mentor and precept others when appropriate. Contribute to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes, including participation in professional organizations and improvement of national nursing quality indicators. In some locations, provide relief charge for staff and workflow of the department. Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and professional standards. Provide all customers with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating core behaviors. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented as outlined by the incumbent’s immediate manager. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing, or higher, required. Valid RN license in the state of practice, or temporary RN license, or compact RN licensure. BLS and ACLS certification required. PALS certification required within 90 days of start date if assigned ASC services pediatrics. Minimum one-year licensed RN experience in OR (other procedural areas considered with Support Center Clinical Educator approval). Licensed RN with no OR experience who is enrolled in PeriOp101 program and will complete successfully within 4 months.
