Program Specialist, Math-Elementary

Summary The Program Specialist for Elementary Mathematics is responsible for assisting the Mathematics Director in planning for and training all Elementary Instructional Coaches, Curriculum Support Teachers, and teachers in the implementation of effective standards-based math instruction in all schools. Essential Duties Assists schools in implementing effective mathematics instruction using research based instructional strategies Assists administrators in supporting, training, and coaching teachers and staff in math Designs and delivers training to administrators/teachers in providing feedback to students to improve instruction delivery Identifies resources and supports teachers with differentiation to meet all students’ needs in math Provides individual assistance to schools experiencing significant struggles in the areas of conceptual understanding, procedural skill and fluency, and application of mathematics Works in collaboration with other departments and areas to maximize teacher effectiveness as it relates to the math instruction Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator Required Education Bachelor’s Degree in Education or in the area of Math. Master's Degree preferred. Certification and Licensure Must hold or be eligible for a valid and clear teaching certificate in the area of Elementary Education or Middle Grades Mathematics. Experience Qualifications Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience required; three years supervisory experience preferred; prior experience with standards-based instruction, teaching of Math and professional staff development required; experience working within a large, complex organization preferred.
