Job Posting Title Specialist I - Access Assistant (Hourly) Job Description Summary To provide specialized services and support to departmental office or program. Duties and Responsibilities Acts as a reader and/or scribe, including note‑taking before, after, or in class, lab, or testing environments. Attends class/lab with the student. Facilitates computer and technology access as appropriate. May assist with access to technology as appropriate. May describe graphics or pictures in the classroom, lab, or testing environment. May assist student with object manipulation during laboratory classes as needed. Ability to maintain boundaries with student as set by supervisor. Ability to appropriately communicate with students, faculty, and staff. Must act in a professional manner and be dependable. Must maintain confidentiality regarding student information. Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions. Willingness to work closely with students with disabilities. Proficiency with accessible software and devices. May require completion of assigned college-level classes as determined by the academic department. Knowledge: Processes and procedures related to the departmental work being done. Skills: Maintaining an established work schedule. Effectively using interpersonal and communication skills including tact and diplomacy. Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Maintaining confidentiality of work‑related information and materials. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Technology Skills: Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications and student information and database systems. Physical Requirements: Work is routinely performed in a standard office or similar environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds. Safety: Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
