About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown/PCU/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid Driver's License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required; ONS/ONCC preferred Must-Have: - Candidate must pass an exam during orientation. - Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. - Candidates may not be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any affiliated facility. Description: The unit provides care for adult oncology and trauma patients. There are a total of 18 beds in the unit. The nurse-to-patient ratio during nights is 1:4-1:5. RNs will occasionally titrate insulin and Cardizem drips. Common medications include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix. Traveling nurses may float to other Med/Surg and PCU units, remaining at the same level of care. High-flow respiratory equipment, BiPAP, and ventilators are commonly encountered. The EMR system used is Epic. IV pumps utilized on the unit are Alaris. Nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, case managers, social workers, educators, and dietitians are available as support staff. The team values positivity, teamwork, and respect for a diverse patient population. Hourly rounding and bedside shift report are key focuses for the patient experience. Nurses are encouraged to provide compassionate care to oncology patients from diagnosis through remission or end of life. The hospital can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment.
