As a Registered Nurse in the Float Pool, you will deliver direct patient care by applying the nursing process and demonstrating clinical competence aligned with professional nursing standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
- Maintain and care for central lines and implement measures to prevent surgical site infections according to policy.
- Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education to promote health outcomes.
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance quality, and support clinical decision-making.
- Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to comply with standards and facilitate communication.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members to improve patient outcomes.
- Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
- Communicate timely with patients and families to enhance their experience and support education.
- Engage in critical thinking and pursue continuing education to develop nursing skills and knowledge.
- Current RN license in a state within the Compact Licensure system or equivalent.
- Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Mental and Physical Demands This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and twisting. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
