R&D Technology Specialist

Merit Medical seeks an R&D Technology Specialist to design, build, and test medical device components and assemblies. The role involves developing procedures, analyzing technical problems, and preparing detailed reports in a day-shift manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and build tooling, test fixtures, assembly equipment, and prototypes using machine tools
• Develop test and assembly procedures for medical device components
• Prepare test specimens, operate equipment, record data, and identify deviations or errors
• Investigate and analyze product and assembly problems; prepare technical reports and present findings
• May supervise technicians and lab equipment; assist with planning non-routine assignments

Requirements

• High school diploma with 7 years technician experience, or Associate's degree with 5 years, or Bachelor's degree with 3 years
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for moderately complex technical challenges
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, database, and relevant software
• Knowledge of tooling and testing equipment operation
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities; effective team collaboration
