Salary Information - HIRINGRANGE: $30.36 – $34.83 per hour based on experience. Pay Grade: 11

Job Summary - Operate, maintain and repair college Facilities Planning & Management equipment and systems on all campuses in a safe, efficient and effective manner.

Essential Functions - Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and/or handle all repairs for electrical, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, hazardous chemicals and related college equipment. Install new and alter existing electrical, lighting, plumbing, HVAC and college equipment. Provide information and recommendations for the creation of design documents for above and below ground mechanical/electrical systems. Utilize blueprints for new and repair projects. Assist automation system analyst in troubleshooting malfunctions; repair and installation of energy management controls on all campuses to ensure proper operation of equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications - Three years hands on work experience in the operation, maintenance and repair in any or all fields of air conditioning, heating/ventilating and related equipment, electrical systems and plumbing. Completion of a related vocational training program equivalent to at least one year/30 semester credits. (One additional year of the required work experience may substitute for the vocational training.) Ability to move 75 pounds and climb 30 ft. extension ladders. Valid Iowa Drivers license with satisfactory driving record. Refrigerant Transition and Recovery universal certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from varied backgrounds.

Desired Qualifications - Five years hands on work experience and strong working knowledge in any or all fields of air conditioning, heating/ventilating and related equipment, electrical systems and plumbing. Experience with roof-top units and chiller troubleshooting and repair. Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics. Valid journeyman or master license in electrical, plumbing and/or mechanical.

Lift of 40 lbs from Floor to Shoulder. Carry of 100 lbs for 10 ft. Push/pull horizontal force of 25 lbs over 100 ft. Push/pull vertical with force of 25 lbs at height of 24 in. Grip force of 100 lbs. Lateral Reach of 30 in. Constant: Standing and Ability to be Mobile. Frequent: Bend, Crouching/Kneeling. Neck Flexion and Extension. Trunk Rotation. Fine Motor Coordination. Hand Coordination. Sitting, Standing & Ability to be Mobile. Occasional: Awkward Postures of working prone or supine over or under vehicles/equipment. Sitting. Additional Comments: Must also be able to use all tools of the trade; move under, over and around vehicles and equipment, frequently exposed to extreme temperatures due to outdoor air and vibratory tool use.
