Blood Collection Staff - Customer Service

Job Overview The Red Cross offers paid phlebotomy training with the ability to grow your healthcare skills and career within the nation’s top humanitarian organization. In this role, you will utilize your healthcare and/or customer service skills to assist with every step of the blood collection process. This includes collaborating with the team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for volunteer donors, and following all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations that are delivered to hospitals. Key Responsibilities Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and help them understand how impactful their donation is. Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment so volunteer donors feel comfortable coming back again and again. Be detail‑oriented all day, ensuring that the blood collected meets regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused. May drive Red Cross vehicles and work with the team to set up and tear down equipment at donation sites. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate vehicles. Standard Schedule Staff work a variable schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be required in some locations. Schedule is provided two to three weeks in advance. Pay Information Starting rate $20.23 per hour. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Physical requirements: ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights, good manual dexterity; ability to sit or stand for long periods and adapt to irregular hours. Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches. Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Competitive Edge Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (e.g., CNA, MA, EMT).
