Position Overview:

We are hiring our first dedicated Residential Generator Sales Representative to lead in-home consultations and close generator installation contracts across Southeastern Pennsylvania. You will own the sales cycle from the scheduled in-home consultation through signed contract. Our office team handles lead generation, intake, and appointment scheduling before you, and our operations coordinator handles permitting, deposit collection, and installation coordination after you. Your job is to be in homes, presenting solutions, and closing deals.

This is a field-based, self-directed role. You will be in your vehicle 4–5 days per week, meeting homeowners at their properties, evaluating site conditions, sizing the right Generac generator, building proposals, and closing sales on-site or through structured follow-up. You will inherit a pipeline of inbound leads from our marketing channels (SEO, PPC, Generac Dealer Locator, and referrals) — this is not a cold-calling position.

Generator-specific experience is not required. We will train you on the technical aspects of site assessment, generator sizing, and installation planning through a structured onboarding program with our lead technician. What we need is a proven closer who is comfortable in a customer’s home and capable of learning the technical side of the business.

Main Responsibilities:

In-Home Sales Consultations

• • Conduct 15–20+ in-home consultations (IHCs) per week across the service territory.
  • Assess each property: evaluate electrical panel capacity, gas supply, generator placement options, wire routing, and site access.
  • Size and recommend the appropriate Generac generator based on the homeowner’s needs and site conditions.
  • Present pricing, financing options, and project scope to the homeowner. Handle objections and close on-site when possible.
  • Collect signed contracts and deposits from the field.

Proposal & Pipeline Management

• • Build and deliver professional proposals including system sizing, pricing, and installation scope.
  • Follow up on all open proposals and track pipeline status and conversion rates.
  • Maintain accurate records in our CRM, including lead source classification, appointment outcomes, and follow-up notes.
  • Report weekly on pipeline health: open quotes, aging, close rate, and forecasted installs.

Post-Sale Coordination

• • Prepare site drawings and documentation needed for municipal permit applications.
  • Hand off signed contracts cleanly to the operations coordinator for permitting, PECO gas adequacy, plumber scheduling, and installation coordination.
  • You are not responsible for managing the installation, service work, or post-install warranty.

Technical Development

• • Complete a structured 90-day onboarding program including ride-alongs on installations and service calls with our lead technician.
  • Develop working knowledge of Generac product lines, transfer switch operation, electrical panel configurations, and gas line requirements.
  • Learn to identify site conditions that affect installation complexity and pricing.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• • 3+ years of in-home residential sales experience (HVAC, solar, roofing, windows, remodeling, or similar).
  • Proven track record of closing $1m+ in annual personal sales production.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn the technical side of generator installation and site assessment.
  • Comfort with field-based, self-directed work managing your own calendar and territory.
  • Clean driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency with CRM/sales tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, ServiceTitan, or similar).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a consultative selling approach.
  • Bonus : Experience in the home standby generator or electrical trade.
  • Bonus : Existing relationships in the Philadelphia suburban market (builders, electricians, real estate agents, property managers).
  • Bonus : Track record of $2M+ in personal annual sales production.

Compensation:

• • Competitive base salary providing income stability during seasonal lulls and onboarding ramp.
  • Uncapped commission on every closed generator installation, tiered by lead source and volume with accelerators that reward exceeding targets.
  • On-target earnings of $120,000–$200,000 at expected annual volume depending on production.
