This role is "On-Site" Project Engineer in Denver Co, San Francisco CA, or Austin TX.The Project Engineer plays an important role in delivering utility scale solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across the United States. This position supports projects from late stage development through construction and performance testing. Working closely with development, engineering, construction and finance teams, the Project Engineer ensures that technical requirements are clearly defined, properly implemented and aligned with project schedules and budgets. This role is ideal for an engineer with early career experience in utility scale renewable projects who is eager to deepen technical expertise while contributing to the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.Key ResponsibilitiesEstablish and manage engineering requirements within EPC contracts and project documentationSupport the Tendering team in EPC contractor selection and contract negotiationsProvide engineering support to the Project Management team during project executionReview and approve project designs, drawings and technical submittals during development and constructionManage external Owner's Engineers supporting design reviews and construction oversightSupport engagement with Independent Engineers for third party project financingConduct site visits to support construction progress and milestone verificationCoordinate technical RFI responses and gather input from internal subject matter expertsProvide technical diligence support for project finance activitiesCapture and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement in project delivery and operationsDevelop tools and processes to manage technical requests and track engineering deliverablesRepresent your discipline in development, delivery and stakeholder meetings as neededKnowledgeUnderstanding of codes and regulations relevant to solar project constructionExperience with engineering design for utility scale PV plantsFamiliarity with project financing structures and technical diligence requirementsKnowledge of key industry stakeholders including EPC contractors, investors, technical advisors and independent engineersUnderstanding of PV technology, balance of system components and market trendsAbility to interpret site documentation and technical reportsKnowledge of EPC cost estimation methodologies based on project designQualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited universityExperience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SketchUpExperience with solar simulation tools such as PVsyst, PVSol, StorageVAT or similar platformsWillingness to travel up to 25% for project site visits and key project meetingsExperienceUp to 3 years of experience in a similar engineering role within renewable energy or infrastructure projectsUtility scale solar PV design for construction, including high voltage substationsBattery energy storage systems and integration with PV and high voltage infrastructureCivil design considerations for solar development including access roads, drainage and site hydrologyElectrical system design including studies such as thermal ampacity, load flow, reactive power and protection coordinationEnergy resource assessment and project optimizationExperience supporting solar PV construction activities, project documentation and technical reviewsBehaviors and CompetenciesCurious and eager to learnHighly organized and able to manage multiple deliverables and deadlinesStrong technical fundamentalsProblem solver who can balance flexibility with maintaining critical project requirementsSolid understanding of engineering codes and standardsCompensation and Benefits The salary range for this role is $105,000 to $120,000, plus a 15% annual bonus.
