Veterinary Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy TechnicianIn addition to the responsibilities outlined below, the Pharmacy Technician is an invaluable member of the hospital team who works directly with the Veterinarian team, Veterinary Technician team and the Customer Service Representative team.Basic Qualifications:Must have 2-5 years experience in veterinary medicineCurrent WA state veterinary technician license preferred, but not required.Pharmacy experience or background preferred. Knowledge of medication names, dosages and pharmaceutical calculations required.Proficient computer skills, including experience with prescription order entry systems, as well as office equipment such as fax machines, label printers, and multi line phone systemsFamiliarity with legal guidelines and safety regulations in pharmacy practices and controlled substancesStrong communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail and record-keeping skillsAbility to problem solve and have critical thinking skillsMust currently have or be able to obtain WA State Medication Clerk LicenseAbility to work from a mostly sedentary position with heavy computer and phone use.Job ResponsibilitiesPharmacy dutiesManages prescriptions requested by clients from practice management software, online portals and email.Prepare and fill medications for both outpatients and hospitalized patients where permitted by state law and in accordance with state lawPerform computer entry of prescriptions in practice management softwareAssure maintenance of the pharmacy by keeping it clean and in orderWork closely with Inventory Manager to assist with drug inventory controlStock and refill pharmacy supplies as neededAbility to maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive patient informationFollow appropriate hospital protocol for the dispensing and logging of controlled substancesExplain medications to the owners to assure they understand the doctor's instructions using excellent customer service skillsJob Type: Full-timePay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experienceExpected hours: 38-40 per weekBenefits:401(k)401(k) matchingContinuing education creditsDental insuranceDisability insuranceEmployee assistance programEmployee discountFree parkingHealth insuranceHealth savings accountLife insuranceOpportunities for advancementPaid sick timePaid time offProfessional development assistanceProfit sharing bonusReferral programRetirement planVision insurance
