School Resource Officer

Key Responsibilities Maintain a visible presence on campus to promote safety and deter criminal activity. Develop positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents. Investigate incidents occurring on school property and coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary. Assist in the development and implementation of school safety and emergency response plans. Provide education on topics such as drug awareness, internet safety, bullying prevention, and conflict resolution. Monitor and assess potential security risks and recommend corrective actions. Respond to emergencies, threats, and crisis situations in a timely manner. Support school administrators in maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment. Prepare reports and maintain accurate records of incidents and activities. Participate in school events, meetings, and community outreach programs. Requirements Current certification as a sworn law enforcement officer. Minimum of 3–5 years of law enforcement experience preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with youth, educators, and families. Knowledge of school safety practices, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution techniques. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations. Certified as a School Resource Officer, at least within the first year of taking the postion. About the position The School Resource Officer (SRO) is a sworn law enforcement officer assigned to a school or group of schools to help maintain a safe and secure learning environment.
